Toyota, Nissan to Increase Exports from Overseas Factories

06/04/96

According to company officials, Toyota and Nissan both have plans to export more cars from their overseas auto factories in 1996.

Toyota expects exports from its U.S., U.K., and Australian plants to increase 10% this year, to 260,000. Nissan is looking for a 12-15% increase in exports from its overseas plants, which would put its foreign-made exports at around 380,000 for 1996.

Exports from the companies' North American plants are being shipped to South Korea, Japan, and the United States. Cars from their U.K. and Australian facilities are currently marketed in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, and Japan.
