Auto Dealer Trade Association to Look at Changing Auto Business

05/22/96

Reuters reported that the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) has formed a task force to examine how the car business is changing and how dealers can keep up.

AIADA's president, Walter Huizenga noted that the automotive industry is one of the few industries that sell their products the same way they did 25 years ago. He added that changes in retailing are beginning to affect car dealers

Huizenga said, "I think that you're going to see a lot of consolidation, fewer outlets, fewer dealers, bigger stores." He added, "And I think you're going to see changes in the way people sell cars, and the way people buy cars."
