Scott Brayton Services Tomorrow

05/22/96

Funeral services for race driver Scott Brayton killed in a practice crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Saturday will be held in his hometown of Coldwater, Michigan, May 22....just four days prior to the day he was to start the 500 mile race from the coveted pole position. Services will be held at the United Methodist Church and it is expected that all the CART and IRL drivers will be paying their respects to the popular and outgoing Brayton.

Firestone, who supplied the tires mounted on Brayton's Menard and which blew and caused the wreck said the Tokyo made tires were examined and showed no internal structural damage. The next step in the accident investigation is to determine if debris on the track pierced the left rear tire or a suspension part became unglued and hit the tire.
