Dan Drinan in Stable Condition after Crashing at Indy

IRL rookie Dan Drinan was reported to be in stable condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Drinan crashed during a practice session before final qualifications for the Indy 500. The wreck occurred at 10:35 on Sunday morning. Drinan lost control of his Buick powered 1991 Lola racer, hit the wall in turn one, slid near the infield at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

According to ESPN Commentator Dr. Jerry Punch, Drinan sustained a fractured left hip and a concussion in the crash. His car was moving at over 200 miles per hour when it hit the wall. Drinan was reportedly awake and alert and awaiting further tests at Methodist Hospital.
