International Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductees for 1996

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame adjacent to the Talledega, Alabama superspeedway stock car racing track wa founded tp preserve the history of motor sports on a world wide basis, and to enshrine forewer the people who have been responsible for its growth.
The hall that houses the museum complex houses over 150 race vehicles plus there is a UNOCAL 76 building containing a variety of race cars plus land speed record machines a Richard Petty race simulator, a variety of muscle cars and even crashed cars like Michael Waltrips Pontiac that rolled up in a ball at Bristol Raceway in April,1990. The visitor will see an Indy Novi,Don Garlits Swamp Rat top fueler, John Andrettis LeMans Porsche from 1989 plus a 14,000 volume library of books and periodicals dealing with motor sports.

- RICHIE EVANS
- NASCAR supermodified champion who died at age 44 in a racing accident in Martinsville,Va.
- DONALD HEALEY
- Father of the famous Austin Healey line of sports cars. His cars won at Sebring, major international rallys and set land speed records.
- BOBBY ISAAC
- NASCAR ace with 37 wins,51 poles and in 1970 set a new closed course speed record of 201mph in hios winged Dodge Daytona.
- FERDINAND PORSCHE
- Creator of the fine line of Porsche sports cars
- JOHNNY RUTHERFORD
- Lone Star JR. Started the Indy 500 24 times and won it three times,
- JOHN SURTEES
- Motorcycles and race cars. Surtess won the world championship on a
Triuph Tiger motorcycle and the Formula one championship in a
Ferrari.
