ABC SPORTS EXTENDS TV BROADCAST PARTNERSHIP
WITH INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY AND IRL

INDIANAPOLIS, May 10, 1996 -- ABC Sports president Steve Bornstein
announced today that the network's longstanding broadcasting
relationship with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) would be
extended through 1999.

The agreement covers broadcasts for the Indianapolis 500, the related
Indy Racing League (IRL) events, and the Brickyard 400 NASCAR Winston
Cup stock car event at IMS.

The announcement was made trackside at the world famous two-and-a-half
mile race track by Bornstein; David Downs, senior vice president of
programming for ABC Sports; Tony George, president of IMS; and Bill
Donaldson, IMS vice president.

ABC Sports' existing contracts with the Speedway and the IRL were
extended through 1999 and ABC will have the first negotiation rights
to IRL events during that period.

"It is extremely gratifying to extend ABC Sports' relationships with
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway," Bornstein said. "Together, ABC
Sports and ESPN will continue to bring the highest production and
promotional values for the world's greatest race: The Indianapolis
500. The extension of the Brickyard 400 and the IRL series on ABC
Sports will also provide financial and promotional benefits."

"We value our partnership with ABC Sports tremendously," commented
George. "This is the strongest broadcasting package that's available
to us today. As our programming opportunities expand, we are pleased
to have such strong television partners for distribution to the race
fans."

Pole qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled Saturday, May
11, 12:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern and Sunday, May 12, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern
and will be broadcast live on ABC Sports. The 80th running of the
"500" is on Sunday, May 26 and for the 11th consecutive year, the
Greatest Spectacle in Racing will be aired live on ABC Sports
beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern.
