Nissan Recalls 20 Models in Japan

05/10/96

NikkeiNet has reported that Nissan Motor Co. filed with Japan's Ministry of Transport to recall the Cedric and 19 other Models that might catch fire due to defects in components. The recall is the largest in Japan's history, affects 1,048,910 cars made between 1989 and 1994, and will cost the Japanese carmaker 6 billion yen. The Japanese ministry of Transport said that six fires have been reported, but none have involved injuries.

Japan's biggest recall before this came in August 1970 when Toyota recalled 774,296 vehicles.
