United States Auto Club Midgets Invade Perris Auto Speedway

05/07/96

Probably the oldest form of open-wheel motorsports competition is the roaring midgets racers that have been with us since so far back we can't remember. And they are still a great crowd pleasing segment of auto racing. Noisy, high revving and close...real close wheel to wheel competition. The oldes sanctioning body for Midgets (IMCA may argue this point) is the UNITED STATES AUTO CLUB, Speedway, Indiana. Their Midget tour goes coast to coast and the winingest drivers are Arizonas Billy Boat and Costa Mesa, California's, Sleepy Tripp. Last weekends USAC Midget tour took a 22 car entry to the all-new Perris Auto Speedway down the road a few miles from the famous now defunct Riverside International Raceway and Billy notched another feature win to his long list of victories.
