AUDI RECORDS BEST APRIL RESULTS IN NINE YEARS


AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 2 -- Audi of America, Inc.
reported U.S. sales of 2,836 for the month of April 1996, representing a
63 percent increase over the same month last year when sales were 1,740.
This represents the German luxury carmaker's best April in the U.S.
since 1987 and the best single monthly total in nearly eight years.
Audi's year-over-year sales have now increased 16 of the last 17 months.
April's strong results bring Audi's 1996 year-to-date total to 8,612,
representing a 45.6 percent increase over last year's mark of 5,913.
Audi continues to be the fastest-growing luxury passenger car franchise
in the U.S.

Audi's strong results were once again led by its all-new A4 sports
sedan, with sales of 1,728 in April.
