Toyota, Nissan, Honda Offer Navigation Kits in Japan

04/24/96

United Press International reported that three major Japanese carmakers will offer consumers navigation kits as part of a new data service offered by a Japanese government-backed organization.

Toyota, Nissan, and Honda will offer the optional kits which will receive traffic data transmitted by Japan's Vehicle Information and Communication Center. The kits will alert motorists about traffic congestion, accidents and other driving conditions through FM multiplex broadcasting or through fiber and radio beacons.
