Ford/Mazda Deal Wont Affect Nissan's Ties with Ford

04/19/96

NikkeiNet reported that Nissan plans to maintain its current ties with both Ford Motor Company and Mazda Motor Corporation. Nissan says that it has received Ford's assurances that Ford's purchase of a controlling interest in Mazda will not affect Nissan and Ford's cooperative relationship.

Nissan and Ford have co-produced Quest minivans in the U.S. since 1992. Their planned annual output remains steady at 152,000 vehicles. Nissan and Mazda supply vehicles to each other under an OEM contract. Nissan officials said the agreement does not conflict with Ford's global strategy.
