NikkeiNet reported that Japanese carmakers invested a total of $12 Billion in their U.S. operations in 1995. The figure comes from a report published by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. In 1995, Japanese carmakers employed 52,000 Americans and had 6,600 dealerships across the U.S.A. JAMA also reports that Japanese carmakers in America exported 173,500 units in 1995. That number plays a big part in total U.S. exports, and has tripled since 1990.
