Nissan to Sell Cut Rate Imported Parts in Japan

04/04/96

NikkeiNet reports that Nissan Motor Co. will begin to sell low-priced auto parts and accessories under a separate brand name. Nissan will buy the products from domestic Japanese and non-domestic companies and sell them for up to 30% less than they charge for their own brand name parts. Nissan expects that the low-priced parts will replace about 10% of its replacement parts sales.

Nissan's intent is to expand their parts imports in line with the Japan-U.S. auto and auto parts agreement that was negotiated last June.

Toyota has already announced that it will set up the same kind of imported parts business. Mazda, Honda, and Mitsubishi are reportedly considering following suit.
