F1: Damon Hill Takes the Brazilian Grand Prix

04/01/96

British Formula One driver Damon Hill (Williams-Renault) won his second victory of the F1 World Championship Series in last Sunday's Grand Prix of Brazil. The race was run at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Late in the race Hill made a pit stop, exchanging grooved tires for slick ones and consequently shaving six seconds of his earlier best lap. Hill beat Jean Alesi with a margin of victory of 17.982 seconds. Rounding out the top six were Michael Schumacher (third place, one lap down), Mika Hakkinen (fourth), Mika Salo (fifth) and Olivier Panis (sixth).
