04/01/96

C.A.R.B finally rescinded the 1992 mandate that said all car makers must have smog free electric cars for sale next year. The mandate that came down from Sacramento last friday orignally stated that car makers should have 160,00 smog free cars in dealers showrooms in 1997. Though G.M. is bringing out an electric car..the EV1 in a matter of months this new deal offers no guarantees that electric cars from U.S. and Japanese car makers will be available in the next six years. The major (Big seven) car companies did agree to sign a provision that they woll have the capacity to put 14,000 electric cars into California deaers in 1998.
