Chrysler to Boost Production by One Quarter

03/20/96

Reuters reported that Chrysler Corporation, urged on by increased vehicle sales in February as compared to one year earlier, has decided to increase their worldwide production by 25.4 percent during the second quarter of this year.

During last year's second quarter Chrysler produced 594,400 cars and trucks at plants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Austria, but this year they will boost that number to 745,300. Although the increase reflects Chrysler's optimism that a slump in car sales is over, it is mostly attributable to the fact that the company's new 1996 minivans are now in full production.

The automaker showed increases in February sales as compared to a year ago, with truck sales rising 29.6 percent and car sales rising 7.8 percent.
