Honda To Double New Car Development

NikkeiNet reported that Honda plans to double its new car development efforts in the U.S.A. Honda intends to develop four models that cater specifically to U.S. demands. In order to carry out these plans, Honda R&D North America Inc. will increase the number of engineers it employs by 50% by the year 2000.

Honda R&D North America Inc. has been active in the development of sporty coupes and station wagons based on the Civic and Accord models. They are also working on a chassis for the Acura CL which will be marketed exclusively in the states.
