Chrysler Japan to Double Advertising Budget and Pay Dealer Incentives

03/12/96

NikkeiNet reported that Chrysler Japan Sales Company's advertising budget for this year doubles the amount the company spent on sales promotions last year. The company will also pay Japanese Dealers incentives based on the number of cars they sell. Chrysler will be the first U.S. automaker to offer dealer incentives in Japan.

Recent Chrysler sales in Japan have been sluggish: this year's sales for January and February were down 22% from the same period during the previous year. Dealer incentives are a typical method of addressing lagging sales in Japan, and the amount that Chrysler will offer dealers is expected to parallel the incentives that Japanese automakers pay their dealers.
