Protesters Tell Australian Grand Prix Drivers to Go Home
03/07/96
Atlas Team F1 reported that protesters demonstrated against the use of Albert Park in Melbourne as the site of 1996's inaugural race for the F1 World Championship Series, the Australian Grand Prix. Police reported that 13 demonstrators broke through fences to stage a brief protest against the racing circuit. The group has threatened to stage a major international incident at the race on March 10. Some Australians have protested against the use of Albert Park ever since it was selected as the site for this year's Australian Grand Prix.
