French Grand Prix in Mangy-Cours Until Century's End

03/07/96

Atlas Team F1 reported that The French Motorsports Association announced that the French Grand Prix will continue to run at Mangy-Cours until 1999. Last month there were reports that the race would be held in Le Castellet in 1997 and for the five ensuing years, but that fell through when the Formula One racing circuit builder FOCA announced that it had a multi-year contract with Mangy-Cours that outlasted 1997. The French Motorsports Association said that they failed to reach an agreement with FOCA and had to give up their "sentimental" plans to run the race at Le Castellet because they couldn't satisfy FOCA's financial requirements.
