Terry Labonte Captured Pole Position at Richmond

03/04/96

SportsTicker reported that Terry Labonte started last Saturday's Pontiac Excitement 400 in the pole position after clocking a qualifying time of 123.728 mph at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia. Second position for the start of the race went to Labonte's teammate, Jeff Gordon who qualified at 123.496 mph. Labonte and Gordon also captured pole and second position for the Hendrick Motorsport team at the previous week's Goodwrench Service 400 at Rockingham. Both drivers are trying to increase their luck. Labonte led the most laps at both the Daytona 500 and the Goodwrench 400 until he was forced out of both races early.
