F1: Total Jordan-Peugeot Gets Title Sponsor for the 1996 Season

Motorsports News International reported that Eddie Jordan's Formula One team will be sponsored by Benson and Hedges this season. The sponsorship starts in Melbourne, Australia, with the first race of the season. Jordan-Peugeot drivers Rubens Barrichello and Martin Brundle will be driving all gold cars and carrying the Benson and Hedges Livery for the rest of the season.

Eddie Jordan claimed the sponsorship as a breakthrough for the team, and the first step toward future success and competitiveness. For their part, Benson and Hedges said that they had considered Formula One sponsorship before, but without bringing the plans to fruition.

Barrichello and Brundle made good showings for the Benson and Hedges Jordan team at pre-season testing in Estoril, Portugal. The team is looking forward to their most successful season yet. The upcoming race in Melbourne opens the 1996 FIA Formula World Championship.
