GM Negotiates to Avoid Strike

The Associated Press reported that the president of UAW Local 696 said talks between the union and GM were making progress. Negotiations began after 3,000 workers at two GM brake component plants threatened to strike. The local issued a five day strike notice last Monday. A strike at the brake plants could affect production at other GM plants. No specifics were reported.
