FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSSIE DRIVER LOOKING TO WIN AT ST PETE GRAND PRIX
Australian driver Jason Bright a resident of St. Petersburg, is aiming for victory in this weeks Formula Ford 2000 event to be held on the streets of St Pete. ST PETERSBURG, FLORIDA (February 16, 1996) Resident St Petersburg driver, Australian Champion Jason Bright, is setting his sights on winning this weeks Formula Ford 2000 event at the Kash N Karry Grand Prix to be held on the 1.6 mile circuit built around the streets of St. Petersburg. Bright, who drives for Primus Racing who are based in St Pete and shares an apartment on Gandy Blvd with fellow Australian driver Mark Noske, is still upset at not winning his first race on Disney World's one mile oval in late January. Bright finished sixth after setting the pace in pre-race testing and official practice. The race, held over 40 laps was not kind to Bright, who had hoped for an incident free run which would allow him to maximise the benefits of his low downforce "passing" set-up. Unfortunately, the race was marred by two major crashes which effectively reduced the event to two ten lap sprints. After breaking the lap record on consecutive laps Bright finished the race just 2.8 seconds behind the race winner Sam Schmidt, although happy to collect valuable points in the Championship chase Bright couldn't help but feel that this race was one he should have won. A massive field of 54 cars is entered for next Saturdays race, to be run over 28 laps of the fast and bumpy St Pete course. Two 30 minute qualifying sessions will be held on Friday, these will determine the starting line up. "I want to win this race badly" say Bright "I know the track quite well, I have walked and driven around it many times, it looks very wide and quite fast. We are after the win here to try and gain a points break on the field, we should be higher up in the points than we currently are, I have to win this one." Bright, who has racing commitments in Australia, will no sooner finish the St Pete event before boarding a jumbo bound for South Australia. On arriving home Bright will test his Formula Holden car in readiness for next months races at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, to be held on the streets of Melbourne.
