Renault Announces Reduction in Number of Jobs

02/21/96

The Associated Press announced that France's state-owned automaker, Renault, will reduce the number of full time employees they hire by 1,640 this year. The cuts will be carried out through part-time job conversions and state-funded early retirement programs. 1,184 workers will be reassigned to new jobs. Early retirement aims at reducing the age of the automaker's workforce, which averages 47 in some Renault plants.
