Shift In Truck Production Predicted
02/20/96
The Associated Press has reported that Helmut Werner, chairman of Mercedes-Benz, predicts that Southeast Asia will capture 50 percent of the world truck market over the next decade. Half is the share of the world market that Europe now supplies, but Werner predicts that Europe's share will drop to 25% as Southeast Asian automakers come into their own. According to Werner, truck production across the world will have to change to reflect this trend.
