Dave Letterman Buys a Piece of Team Rahal

02/13/96

The Associated Press reported that David Letterman, host of "Late Show with David Letterman," will become a minority interest owner of Bobby Rahal's racing team. Bobby Rahal and Letterman have been friends for about 10 years, and Rahal appeared on Letterman after winning the Indy 500 in 1986.

Letterman, an Indiana native, is a fan of IndyCar racing in general and of the Indianapolis 500 in particular. Because of the feud between CART and the IRL, however, Rahal will not participate in this year's Indy 500. He will race at the U.S. 500 instead, which CART has scheduled to run on the same day as the Indy 500.
