Mike Cooke Dies in NASCAR Wreck

ESPNET reported the death of stock car driver Mike Cooke after a crash on Saturday. The accident occurred at qualifications for the Copper World Classic, a NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour event at Phoenix International Raceway.

The 49 year old driver from Gilbert, Arizona was waiting for a green flag to begin his qualifying run when his car spun and hit the fourth turn's outer concrete wall. Paramedics extracted Cooke from his car and he was flown to a hospital where he died Saturday night.
