Manila Hopes to Attract GM Plant

The Associated Press reported that President Fidel Ramos and some Governors from the Philippines have offered GM incentives to build a billion dollar plant in that nation rather than in Thailand. GM is looking for a place to base its regional vehicle and spare parts operations in Southeast Asia. The company aims to double its 5% share of the Asia-Pacific automotive market by the year 2005.
