Red River Port Project Takes Major Step Forward

Groundbreaking for Terminal Slated for Thursday

Shreveport, January 23, 1996 -- Executive Port Director John W. Holt, Jr. announced today that construction on a $9.5 million state-of-the-art marine terminal on the Red River is about to begin. "On Thursday, January 25, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the site of the new terminal on the banks of the Red River at the Port of Shreveport-Bossier," said Holt. "Construction of the terminal will help ensure that port becomes a major economic catalyst in Shreveport."

The terminal is a joint venture of Atlas Processing Company and Hollywood Marine, Inc. Atlas Processing is a subsidiary of Houston-based Pennzoil Company, and Hollywood Marine one of the largest tank barge companies in the country. Officials of Atlas, Pennzoil and Hollywood Marine will attend the groundbreaking ceremony. Numerous congressmen, senators and other local officials have also been invited.

The groundbreaking will be held at 11 a.m. at the Port of Shreveport. A press conference is scheduled after the ceremony.
