PENNZOIL ENTERS DUST CONTROL AND SOIL STABILIZATION MARKET WITH PENNZSUPPRESS D

Houston, January 15, 1996 - Clyde W. Beahm, Pennzoil Products Companys group vice president, products marketing, announced today that the company has launched a new dust control and soil stabilization product.

This product launch follows Pennzoils test marketing of Pennzsuppress D, a patented water-emulsified petroleum resin formula designed to suppress dust, control soil erosion and reduce silt runoff from unpaved roads, construction sites, industrial facilities, mines, quarries and state and federal parks. In view of the outstanding results reported by our customers who have been using Pennzsuppress D for the past two years, we see a strong, growing demand for this environmentally sensitive product both in the United States and overseas, Beahm reported.

Departments of Transportation in several states have approved the new product for use as a dust suppressant and soil stabilizer, and it has been recognized by state environmental; agencies for its value and economy in improving air and water quality.

Beahm said many dust suppressants of the past were made with inadequately refined, potentially carcinogenic petroleum oils diluted with flammable, volatile organic compound solvents. Our patented formula replaces those ingredients with water emulsified petroleum resin and non-volatile binding agents, wetting agents and emulsifiers and gives our customers an outstanding, cost-effective tool to meet tighter clean air and clean water requirements, he explained.

The unit which will manufacture, market and distribute Pennzsuppress D, will be under the direction of Edward C. Davis, Pennzsuppress business unit manager of the companys commercial and industrial lubricants division. In addition to the existing manufacturing facility in Mundys Corner, PA, the new unit plans to build two additional plants in the United States by 1997.

Pennzoil Products Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston-based Pennzoil Company.
