FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 13, 2023 – Hyundai North Motor America promoted Michael Stewart to director, public relations and communications effective December 12, 2022. In his new role, he will support and execute all regional communications and public relations strategies for Hyundai Motor North America and Genesis Motor North America, in collaboration with other Hyundai affiliates, including the Hyundai Washington D.C. office. He will report directly to June Lim, executive coordinator, marketing and public relations, Hyundai Motor North America.

“With 15+ years working with Hyundai, Michael has a long history of crafting award-winning, strategic communications initiatives that elevate the Hyundai and Genesis brands, vehicles, technologies and services,” said June Lim, executive coordinator, marketing and public relations, Hyundai Motor North America. “There’s no one more equipped to lead our public relations and communications efforts and we’re excited to watch him continue to succeed in this new role.”

Stewart joined Hyundai in 2017 as senior group manager, corporate and marketing public relations and then transitioned to senior group manager, product public relations in 2022. In this role, he was responsible for establishing the strategic direction and execution of all product communications activities, including launching new vehicles, promoting the entire product lineup, and communicating Hyundai’s leadership in electrification.

His product communications leadership led to securing several prestigious awards for Hyundai vehicles, including MotorTrend SUV of the Year, Car and Driver EV of the Year, and World Car of the Year for the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5. In 2022, he organized and managed the groundbreaking and community celebration for Hyundai’s new EV production facility in Savannah, Georgia.

In his previous corporate communications role, he helped promote and protect the Hyundai brand and led the communications efforts for Hyundai’s Super Bowl campaigns including the 2020 “Smaht Pahk” ad, which received more media coverage than any other brand.

Prior to joining Hyundai, Michael worked for Ketchum, a global PR consulting firm, for 10 years on the Hyundai account. In 2019, he was selected to PRWeek’s 40 under 40 list. Michael is also an advisory board member for the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations.
