December 19, 2022; Luxury SUVs take the characteristics of more common SUVs, such as a commanding view of the road, all-wheel drive, some level of off-roading ability, and a more rugged appearance, and wrap them in a stylish, attention-getting body. Inside, the cabin is decked out with leather touch points, high-quality trim, and additional sound-absorbing materials. The more expensive ones may have dazzling displays, high-performance engines, huge glass roofs, and even richer leather, wood, suede, and chrome trim.

But even among these exclusive models, some are far better than their peers. To find out which luxury SUVs are the best you can buy today, we compiled a list of SUVs ranked from first to 10th by their Overall Score. They range from compact models to those with three rows of seats.

Our Overall Score encompasses a vehicle’s performance in our road tests; the latest results from the reliability and owner satisfaction sections of CR’s Annual Auto Surveys; the availability of automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, AEB that works at highway speeds, blind spot warning (BSW), and rear cross traffic warning (RCTW); and results from government and insurance-industry crash tests, if they’re available.

Some models have our Green Choice designation, which highlights vehicles with the cleanest emissions.
