Circuit of The Americas Austin TX October 22, 2022: Following his smooth running during yesterday’s young driver outing with the Williams Team at Circuit of The Americas, Floridian Logan Sargeant now has a conditional offer for a full time drive alongside Alexander Albon for 2023 with the team.

Logan would be the first American driver to compete in a Formula 1 race since Alexander Rossi in 2015, and a first full time US driver since 2006. Team boss Jost Capito revealed today that the 21 year old now has two more outings during the Mexico and Abu Dhabi free practice sessions in which to demonstrate his handling of the FW44.

He’ll have the opportunity to run 100km during each, for which he’ll earn a point towards his super license, a requirement to drive in Formula 1. Sargeant is currently competing in the F2 feeder series, where required super license points are also earned. A minimum of 40 are required to drive in Formula 1. He’s currently 3rd in that championship series, and he will need to finish in P5 in the season finale there if his outcomes following both tests in F1 fail to earn him a point each.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be host to both the F1 and F2 championship series finales on November 20th.
