A CELEBRATION OF AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY

1931 Studebaker - Larry and Patricia Gardon - Quincy, MI

The President State Sedan was Studebaker's top of the line model for 1931Wire spoke wheels were standard equipment in 1931 but this particular President has hickory wood artillery wheels.  The wooden artillery wheels were a $200 Deduct Option off the $2,075 price tag!  Only one other example of the 1931 President with wooden artillery wheels is know to exist.

1932 Chrysler - Bob Becker - Mount Forest, Ontario

Walter P. Chrysler introduced the Imperial as a separate model in the Chrysler line up to compete directly with Cadillac, Packard and Lincoln in the luxury car market. These Imperials are known for their tremendous power and road manners and this example is extremely competent on the road with its 125 HP power plant and four speed transmission.

1939 Packard 1703 Super-8 Convertible Victoria by Darrin
Owners: Leon Flagg & Curtis Lamon; Whitefish Bay, WI

Upon opening his coachworks, Darrin of Paris, on the Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood in 1937, "Dutch" Darrin drew on the work he'd done in Paris with Hibbard & Darrin, later Fernandez & Darrin, introducing sensuous European curves on to forthright American chassis. Darrin favored the impeccably engineered Packard, but economic considerations prevailed. Of the handbuilt "Darrins" produced in Hollywood prior to 1940, most rode the less expensive "120" platform. Only when a client specially requested the exclusive "Super-8" version was it constructed. Seen here is the second of just six "Super-8s" built.
