Grand Opening of National Museum of American History's New Wing

WHAT:	The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will reopen its newly transformed wing of the museum's second floor to the public with a ribbon cutting, music and various activities.
WHEN:	Wednesday, June 28 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
WHERE:	National Museum of American History Mall entrance, Madison Drive between 12th and 14th streets N.W.

The museum will open The Nation We Build Together June 28. The four exhibitions on the second floor explore the founding principles of the country and ask, "What kind of a nation do we want to be?"

Photo opportunities include visitors wearing Statue of Liberty crowns; a LEGO make & take; a ribbon-cutting ceremony; jazz, blues and conjunto performances and the debut of programs in Unity Square.

	10:45 a.m.–1 p.m.	Free Statue of Liberty crowns handed out (until supplies run out)
	11–11:30 a.m.	Opening ceremony & ribbon cutting
	11:30 a.m. –5:30 p.m.	"American Experiments" activities in Unity Square
	12–12:45 p.m.	Conjunto band Los Texmaniacs
	12:30–3:30 p.m.	LEGO make & take activity (until supplies run out)
	1–3 p.m.	Book signings: American Democracy; Many Voices, One Nation and Objects of Devotion
	1–3 p.m.	Smithsonian Gardens tours
	1–1:45 p.m.	Blues duo Rick Franklin and Jay Summerour
	2–2:30 p.m.	Greensboro lunch counter program
