May Brings All-Time Monthly Sales Record for Honda Canada Inc.

MARKHAM, ON, June 1, 2017 /CNW/ - For the second consecutive month, Honda's light truck lineup helps sales figures climb to another record-breaking month. Combined May sales of 20,975 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 12% increase over last year's sales, marking a new all-time monthly sales record. Selling more than 19,000 units in a single month for the first time in the brand's history, the Honda Automobile Division set a new all-time monthly record on sales of 19,175 units, up 12% over last year. The Acura Division reported May sales of 1,800 units, up 15% over last year.

"Honda's light truck lineup continues its winning streak with record-setting months for HR-V, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline. May also marks the first time in the brand's history that Honda surpassed 19,000 units in a single month," said Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc.

"May was a solid turnaround month for the Acura Division with its SUVs and ILX luxury sedan performing well. The 2018 TLX performance luxury sedan officially launches at Canadian dealerships today and we are forecasting strong demand for this bold new product," added Leclerc.

May Highlights:

• Honda Canada Inc. posted all-time best monthly sales with 20,975 units sold versus March 2017 with 19,175 units sold.
• The Honda brand sold more than 19,000 units in a single month for the first time in the brand's history with 19,175 units, which sailed past the previous best all-time month of 17,392 units sold in March 2017.
• For the fifth consecutive month, the HR-V set a new monthly record on sales of 1,687 units.
• For the fifth consecutive month, the CR-V posted a new monthly sales record with 4,435 units sold versus the previous best May in 2013 with 3,661 units sold.
• Honda Pilot topped the previous best May record in 2016 with a 56% increase.
• Honda Ridgeline had its best May with 489 sales versus the previous best in 2007 with 451 sales.
• Acura's popular SUV lineup posted a 30% gain on sales versus the same period last year.
