TruckThat LLC Announces Documentary and App Release

MINNEAPOLIS, March 23, 2017 -- TruckThat debuted at the Mid-America Trucking Show in 2016 with a goal of giving professional drivers a way to call "BS" on everything that sucks in the trucking industry. Armed with a t-shirt shooting air cannon, a 5-ton, 6-by-6-foot army truck and two dozen kegs of beer, industry veterans launched a community that would grow to well over 100,000 in under a year.

With an incredibly engaged and quickly-growing community, it's only fitting for TruckThat to announce another major initiative one year after its original launch. This summer, TruckThat will release a documentary, The Secret Lives of Truckers, which focuses on breaking stereotypes and revealing what it's really like to live life on the road.

"Professional truckers all too often get a bad rap," said Christian Schenk, founder of TruckThat. "We fail to recognize how valuable the profession is to the economy. From groceries to clothing to everything we purchase online - it's all brought to us by American truckers. We need to start acknowledging the hardships drivers face and giving them the respect they deserve," Schenk said.

The documentary will highlight a diverse community of drivers and focus on how they work tirelessly on and off the road to support their families, their passions and their fellow drivers. TruckThat: The Secret Lives of Truckers will give audiences a surprising window into their world: men and women whose travels have fueled a creative outlet, minorities whose encounters with discrimination have prompted them to work for social justice and regular Joes who've courageously rushed toward danger to save the lives of strangers.

"These are the stories we'll tell – the stories of America's invisible, everyday heroes," Schenk said.  "The documentary will serve as a further catalyst for change in an industry that's disrespected all too often."

Renowned filmmakers Tom Adair and Meschach Weber, who have spent more than 15 years capturing stories of the trucking industry for NBC, PBS, Discovery Channel, ABC and National Geographic, are leading the TruckThat documentary production team. The fact that videos are 1,200 times more likely to be shared socially than text and images gives TruckThat a unique opportunity to grow and amplify the voice of the driver community.

TruckThat: Secret Lives of Truckers documentary is poised to cut through social noise and drive intense audience engagement and brand visibility. By showing the products and brands truckers use every day on the road, the documentary will also deliver hyper-focused and valuable exposure to the companies that serve professional drivers. Limited sponsorships are available for the documentary release. For sponsorship opportunities, contact Jake Dettmer at dettmer@truckthat.com.

In addition to the documentary, TruckThat will launch an app, making it even easier for professional drivers to vent, post and share. The app is available for download from the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets, with an iOS release to follow soon after. With an increasingly mobile world, the new app will allow the community to more effectively participate in conversation and draw further attention to the challenges drivers face in the trucking industry.

"I've been listening to drivers for years and most of what they tell me comes down to one simple wish: that just once somebody would do something for them instead of to them. It's in that spirit that we created TruckThat – to give drivers a clear voice for venting frustrations and demanding change."

Content will be user generated and drawn from Facebook, Twitter and online at www.truckthat.com. In-app picture posts will automatically push to the TruckThat website and feature the well-known #truckthat hashtag. App users will also be able to benefit from the deals and discounts available to ONE20 members.
