National Charity Cars Program Announces Donation Of Vintage Autos By Collector And Preservationist Evan Metropoulos

LONGWOOD, Fla., March 16, 2017 -- The Original 1-800-Charity Cars, Inc., America's largest non-profit organization focused on providing free donated vehicles to assist families in need, announced that Evan Metropoulos, a principal at family investment firm Metropoulos & Co. and an ardent "preservationist" collector of vintage automobiles, has donated two vehicles valued at more than $350,000.  The cars, an original 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda and a 1968, 350 horsepower Chevrolet Corvette convertible, are expected to be showcased in connection with the charity's events and publications to raise awareness of the organization and its mission as well as the importance of vintage car preservation.

"Since our first-of-its-kind charity was founded we have provided more than 7000 free vehicles to struggling individuals and families, helping to support their journeys to self-sufficiency," said Brian Menzies, CEO of Charity Cars, Inc., which operates as The Original 1-800-Charity Cars.  "We are grateful to Evan Metropoulos for this generous donation, which will help many more people realize the dream of car-ownership, while, at the same time, educating the public on automobile history and the importance of preserving our auto heritage."

Over nearly 20 years, Mr. Metropoulos has quietly amassed one of the largest collections of unrestored vintage autos in the world, a collection he plans to house in a museum planned for later this year.  Among a small group of preservationist collectors, he is passionate about unearthing and preserving rare vintage autos (also known as "survivors") before a restorer's hands erase the originality and historical significance of the vehicle.  A Corvette fanatic, he has among the only complete collections of 1967, 435 horsepower Corvettes in every color produced, all with factory original paint.
