Plan B Marine Leases Additional Slips at Chelsea Pier in Response to Growing Demand
NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2017 -- Plan B Marine today announced the leasing of additional slips at Chelsea Pier in support of the maritime evacuation service it provides from Manhattan. "There's been a spike in interest what with all the coverage," Plan B President and CEO Chris Dowhie remarked. "We want to be able to handle as many clients as want to come with us."
Plan B Marine's maritime evacuation services, available through arrangement at marinas on the East and West Side, provides mooring, maintenance and training in the operation of Coast Guard class SAFE boats. In an evacuation event, Plan B subscribers pilot their boats to predetermined disembarkation points of their own choosing. Plan B Marine SAFE boats activate by means of security code, are tracked via GPS and are recovered and re-readied by Plan B Marine once subscribers have gotten where they need to go.
"Chelsea Pier is an ideal point of embarkation," according to Dowhie. "Its equidistant from downtown and midtown, the services provided by the dock are excellent and you can be across the river in less than three minutes."
In a time of increased concern over business contingency needs and the likelihood that some form of SEC rule 206(4) will be finalized, as well as personal security concerns, Plan B Marine offers Manhattanites, the fastest, safest way off the island in the event of infrastructure breakdown or mass transit failure.
