HANOVER, Germany—Look good while you’re doing good: Every year, vintage and classic bikers take advantage of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to get spruced up in their finest togs, comb their moustaches, and collect donations to support men’s health initiatives. This year, they’ve already topped last year’s amazing results: 3.6 million US dollars have already been raised to prevent prostate cancer and mental illness in men. In Great Britain, around 5,000 bikers and sponsors raised a total of almost 750,000 dollars. As in previous years, Moto-tyres.co.uk supported the campaign with a total of 5,000 US dollars in ten bike-mad cities: Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich, Paris, Bordeaux, Milan, Florence, London, and Oxford.
The event, which has taken place on the last weekend in September since 2012, has become an important annual fixture. This year, in accordance with the campaign motto, over 50,000 bikers donned their glad rags to ride through more than 500 cities in 90 countries to raise awareness and attract support. Donations and sponsorship raised will be spread throughout the world to fund projects combating prostate cancer and promoting suicide prevention.
“This year the number of participants broke the 50,000 barrier – a new record! Bikers are doing a great job of highlighting the relevance of men’s health. On top of this, their stylish clothes and friendly behaviour create an image boost for the sport of biking.
