Carter Myers Automotive prepares to open Colonial Subaru in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 16, 2016 -- Due to overwhelming demand for its products, Subaru of America is adding a brand new Subaru dealership to the Richmond market, bringing more jobs and a new location on I-95, convenient for loyal Subaru owners to get their vehicles serviced.

After an exhaustive search, Subaru of America awarded this new franchise to Carter Myers Automotive (CMA), a family and employee-owned dealer group serving Central Virginia since 1924. Operating as Colonial Subaru in Chester, VA, this will be CMA's 5th dealership in the Richmond market when it opens in November. Overall, CMA now represents 16 automotive brands at 13 locations in the Richmond, Charlottesville and Staunton, Virginia markets.

"We were thrilled when Subaru chose our team to represent their brand in Richmond," said CMA President and CEO, Liza Myers Borches, "Subaru is one of the fastest-growing and most reliable brands in the automotive business. We are very proud to welcome our second Subaru franchise to the CMA family." The state-of-the-art facility is on pace to open in November and create 38 new jobs this year alone. The group is hiring and training now. Available positions are posted on their website www.mycolonialsubaru.com.

The dealership will be run by General Manager Ed Nicol, who also oversees CMA's Colonial Kia and Gateway Hyundai stores just around the corner from the new home of Colonial Subaru. Nicol, who has worked for CMA for 10 years, had high praise for the group. "Team members are treated like family. Because it is an employee-owned company, everyone is always working together toward common goals," said Nicol, "Employees can participate in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. As one of only a handful of dealership groups in the country that offer such a program, CMA employees own 26% of the company."

In addition to adding new jobs in the local market, Colonial Subaru won't waste any time giving back to the local community. As part of their Share the Love event November 17, 2016 to January 3, 2017, Colonial Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru sold to non-profits, including FeedMore's Central Virginia Food Bank which services more than 200,000 food insecure children, families and seniors in Richmond, Petersburg and surrounding areas.
