Transportation Impact, First Flight Solutions again rank among Inc. 5000

EMERALD ISLE, N.C., Aug. 18, 2016 -- Transportation Impact learned Wednesday that it has earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 for the fourth year in a row. The North Carolina-based supply chain management firm ranked No. 2633 on the annual list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. First Flight Solutions, of which Transportation Impact is majority owner, also made the list for the fourth consecutive year, coming in at No. 2290.

Exactly one year prior, TI held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility and announced its 2015 Inc. 5000 ranking. Co-Founders Travis Burt and Keith Byrd reflected back on how far things have come since that day.

"This honor is one we share with every single person in this room," Byrd said during his official announcement to company personnel. "Know that your hard work and dedication is what helped us earn a spot on this list for the first three years and that we wouldn't be on it again without your passion for what we do."

Transportation Impact stood out on the list as the No. 5 company in North Carolina in the logistics and transportation industry category and No. 62 in the nation in the same category. First Flight Solutions came in as the No. 3 logistics and transportation company in the state and No. 52 in the nation.

Both companies ranked within the top 100 fastest-growing companies in the state across all industries.

"We are humbled to receive so much recognition for the growth of our company," said Burt. "Our entire staff has spent a lot of early mornings and late nights helping us see this to fruition, and it feels good to be recognized alongside some of the best companies in our state and in the country."

The news comes on the heels of the 2016 North Carolina Mid-Market FAST 40 Award, given by Business North Carolina and Cherry Bekaert LLP. That award is given to companies that demonstrate growth in the middle market, which Cherry Bekaert says is critical to the expansion of North Carolina's economy and vital to job creation around the state.

Since its inception in 2008, TI has helped more than 500 companies reduce supply chain costs by a total of more than $200 million. The firm leverages more than 200 years of carrier experience to cut clients' costs by an average of around 20%.

Transportation Impact has cultivated a strong reputation for giving back in the community, having donated more than $1 million to charitable causes. Its staff collectively contributes hundreds of hours of community service annually.

Byrd urged his team to "not get comfortable" in the year ahead and to keep working as vigorously as they have been for the past eight years.

"Our first goal was to just make the list," said Byrd. "Now that we've done that four times over, our goal is to make it eight years, and we can do it."
