Fox School of Motoring Warns of Pop Up Driving School Fail Rates in Wake of Perth Mining Job Losses

PERTH, Australia, July 13, 2016 -- Fox School of Motoring, a fully government accredited driving school company, has highlighted the dangers of a flood of inexperienced pop up driving schools springing up across Perth in the wake of the devastating mining industry job cuts seen across the country, particularly in Joondalup.

So far this year, thousands of people have been let go by mining companies across Australia with the commodity prices crash. It was a huge shock when 2,330 jobs went in Spring 2016. The Fox School of Motoring is concerned that stop gap driving instructor work by former mining sector employees could lead to bad learner drivers being let loose on our roads. The company is blowing the whistle on unscrupulous operators who are taking shortcuts and chopping lesson times.

"Some people have seen this sector as a temporary bandage to their personal job crisis. This profession has been polluted with sub-standard instructors waging open price wars against each other in a race to the bottom. This has a negative impact on driver competency levels with unsuspecting learner drivers," expressed, Mark Kenevin, Head Driving Instructor, Fox School of Motoring. "While we all feel a depth of compassion for the thousands of people kicked out of the mining industry, the highest and most stringent professional standards must be maintained in the driving school arena. Our student pass rates are excellent for a reason."

With its headquarters in Joondalup, the team of professional driving instructors at the Fox School of Motoring take all students through comprehensive safe driving mastery techniques in automatic or manual vehicles. These include defensive driving manoeuvres proven to reduce the risk of collision.
