A Black Cab Gets a Green Office Makeover for National Plants at Work Week

With advances in technology, business isn't restricted to the office. With home-working and working hubs springing up everywhere, a mobile office won't come as a surprise. A green, mobile office is even more inviting especially in terms of health and wellbeing.

That is exactly how National Plants at Work Week is getting off to a green start, with a planted, mobile office in a London black cab.

As business men and women rush from one meeting to another they can finish off their preparations in the cab or conduct their meetings there.

"We all know that nature and green plants have very positive benefits for the working environment and all who use it, so a black cab is the perfect place to site a green mobile office," commented efig ambassador Ian Drummond who is Creative Director at Indoor Garden Design Ltd and responsible for the installation.

We need to connect with nature 

efig's Chairman, Chris Jenkin, MD of Enterprise Plants Ltd confirmed the benefits of bringing nature into the office. "We are more used to planted installations in a traditional office," he said, "But technology doesn't stand still and neither should we.

"Ensuring that everywhere we work has a natural element is important not just for health but also for improved productivity and creativity. Research in recent years has supported these theories.

"One of the latest concepts, biophilia, is one that is several decades old. The theory is that we all need to connect with nature - it's in our genes. When we get this connection with nature is when we function best and bringing plants indoors is one of the simplest ways to do this."

A week long campaign 

National Plants at Work Week is an annual campaign run by interior landscaping association efig, to remind everyone just how important plants are for us all.

efig members around the country will spend the week engaged in a number of actions to remind everyone of these facts.
