AutoGas News: Georgia Gas Distributors Promotes the Class 7 Alkane Truck Company Brand

ATLANTA, May 20, 2016 --In case you missed it, the new Class 7 Alkane dedicated Propane truck is available to the North American AutoGas market now. The first and only truck available in this heavy weight class.

Georgia Gas Distributors has jumped on the Alkane wagon, well truck for that matter. Georgia Gas is knocking on a lot of doors, especially the ones that seemed to be closed. According to Steve Newman, Alternative Fuel Program Manager at Georgia Gas, "we could not recommend a Propane platform that exceeded the venerable capabilities of the Isuzu NPR-HD…we simply did not have a medium to heavy duty capable truck to offer…the game has certainly changed with Alkane Trucks."

For customers that previously needed a Class 7 truck (26,001-33,000 GVW), the Propane industry seemed void when competing against CNG. But with the launch of the Alkane platform, the field has been leveled and there are several factors when considering this vehicle. Do you need horsepower combined with better fuel economy than CNG? Do you have heavy-hauling needs such as a beverage distributor or delivery company? Propane is about as equivalent as you can get to diesel at a fraction of the fuel costs.

The Power Solutions International 8.8 L engine and Allison transmission delivers a Class 7 cab-over truck delivering the same torque at 1,500 rpms as comparable diesel engines at a fraction of the cost of operation according to the company.

It did not take long for Georgia Gas Distributors to flood the Atlanta region with emails and an aggressive sales initiative to promote the Alkane Truck Brand. This truck will certainly gain traction as fleet managers seek ways to go the alternative route.
