Devin Steele is off to a hot start to the 2016 season. After winning the
season opener back in April, he added another trophy to his collection
following a side by side finish at the checkered flag.

Steele started from the outside pole and took the lead from Daryn Cockram
early but surrendered it to Kyle Dudley who started from the rear of the
field in a backup car after winning the pole position and having his
throttle hang open during the pace laps. Dudley surged to the front of the
field and looked to be on his way to an easy win but Steele had conserved
his tires and made a run at him at the checkered flag.

Steele was denied the victory on track as Dudley took the checkered flag by
a few feet. However post race inspection proved to be problematic for
Dudley as he failed to meet the weight requirements. His disqualification
handed the win to Steele. Ricky Gillespie had his best run of the season
finishing second with Jonathan Hall in third. Fourth was Josh Leedy and
fifth was Joey Phillips.

Kevin Smith survived the Mini Stock race and a hard challenge from Barry
Wilson for his first win of the season. Wilson finished second with Cole
Martin, David Helm and Brittany Cockram rounding out the top five.

Michael Simacek survived a late race attack from Barry Wilson to pick up
his second win in a row in the Tunerz division. Wilson settled for second
after a heated battle with Andrew Amos, Chris Amos and Larry Isley rounding
out the top five.

Jason Quintrell survived a late race scare when he collided with a lapped
car causing the "big one" in the Mini Cup feature event. Quintrell would
continue on as would Jacob Steele but Jeff Davis' car was severely damaged
and was unable to continue. Robert Gibson, Steele, Josh Brown and Davis
would complete the top five.

Jason Warsing picked up his second win in a row in the Street Stock
division. Warsing kept Danny Bush at bay for the win. Bush finished
second with rookies Colton Smallwood and Cary Thomason finishing third and
fourth respectively. EL Webb would complete the top five finishers.

Larry Isley, Jr. inherited his second victory of the season after Chad
Ricker was disqualified for an engine infraction. Isley was followed to
the finish line by WJ Altizer, Brandon Radford, Patrick Janney and JR Heath.

Aaron Quintrell picked up his first win of the young season in the Future
Stars Mini Cup division. Ashley Coon, Ethan Heath, Matthew Cockram and Jay
Quintrell completed the top five.

*Racing continues at Franklin County Speedway this Sunday afternoon May
22nd at 3pm. A 60-lap Late Model Stock Car feature headlines the event
with racing in all divisions.*
