HARTFORD, Conn. & KEENE, N.H.—The Main Street America Group has implemented Main Street Protection Auto, its robust new private passenger auto insurance program for the preferred/standard marketplace, via its distribution network of independent insurance agents throughout Connecticut and New Hampshire.

The new personal auto product, launched in Connecticut in February and New Hampshire in April, is already generating significant market impact across several states.

“In Connecticut, our results have been outstanding as new business production is up significantly year-to-date through April after less than three months in the marketplace,” said Steve Berry, Main Street America’s New England Region president. “The majority of our insureds are receiving discounts and many have purchased our bundled coverage options, or elite endorsements, which are available for any qualifying vehicles and can be mixed and matched based on an insured’s coverage needs.”

Berry added, “Our quoting volume is strong in Connecticut for a variety of reasons, including a new straightforward rating approach and new business issuance process, all of which enable our independent agents to transact business more quickly with us. While our rollout in New Hampshire is still in the very early stages, feedback from our independent agents in The Granite State has been very positive.”

The market impact Main Street America is generating in New England is being mirrored in Main Street Protection Auto’s first two launch states, Virginia and South Carolina. New business production has significantly increased in both states since the product was implemented in 2015.

Product highlights include a competitive lineup of bundled and standalone coverages that include many sought-after coverages such as new vehicle replacement, accident forgiveness and disappearing deductible.

“Main Street Protection Auto is a total overhaul of our current private passenger auto program,” said Debbie Murphy, Main Street America’s vice president/head of personal lines. “Our new auto product features impactful changes on all fronts including an improved pricing position in our target market, enhanced coverages and improved ease of use of our Main Street Station personal lines processing platform, making it easier for our Connecticut and New Hampshire independent agent-customers to write business with us.”

Another distinguishing feature of Main Street Protection Auto is the myriad of discounts being offered to consumers. Main Street America’s insureds will be eligible for up to 20 discounts, such as a new business discount, accident and violation free discount, loyalty discount, new vehicle discount and discounts for paying in full or signing up for electronic funds transfer premium payments. Other discounts include savings for insureds that package their homeowners’ policies with a Main Street America carrier or have multiple vehicles on the same auto policy.

Regarding quoting and business submission, agents can quickly bridge from their comparative rater directly to the premium summary page where additional coverages or quote changes can be quickly made. There are fewer screens to simplify data entry and faster response times which enhance the overall user experience.
