SmartDrive Appoints Gary Brian As Engineering Project Manager

Accomplished technology leader will drive customer implementations to improve driver behaviour and reduce risk

HERTFORDSHIRE, England, May 9, 2016 -- SmartDrive Systems, a leader in commercial vehicle driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, continues to expand and strengthen its UK team, with the appointment of Gary Brian, as engineering project manager.  A proven technology leader, Gary assumes responsibility for managing SmartDrive's installation logistics for pilot programmes and new customer rollouts, as well as leading technical issue analysis and resolution in the field.

Aidan Rowsome, vice president EMEA at SmartDrive says, "Gary has extensive experience and outstanding leadership and technical skills. He has developed service platforms from start-up, managed them through growth and led teams from zero to well over 100 employed field engineers."

Gary has over 30 years of engineering and management experience, primarily within the automotive, telecoms and IT industries.  He has held senior roles at Cable and Wireless (Vodafone), Isotrak, Trafficmaster (Teletrac), RAC and most recently as general manager at Nationwide Service Care.

"In my previous role, I had some interaction with SmartDrive through an approved installation partner.  Seeing the SmartDrive system working first hand in the field impressed me and when the opportunity arose to join the team I was delighted to be successful in securing the role," stated Gary. "The SmartDrive programme blends two of my professional interests, IT and automotive, in a comprehensive, integrated solution that helps commercial fleet operators reduce their risk profile, take bad costs out of their business and improve drivers' behaviour, ultimately helping to save lives. The company is very much making its presence felt in the UK market and I'm excited to be on board at this stage."

"Our customer base continues to grow in the UK, with well-known fleets in third party logistics, home delivery networks and general haulage seeing quantifiable benefits from our video-based driver risk management programme," Aidan continues.  "In his new role, Gary will manage our local installer partners, as well as acting as the technical interface between the UK team and our San Diego headquarters."
