Daytona Beach, Florida (January 31, 2016)...Between the 12- and 18-hour marks of
 the 2016 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTLM team
encountered a few issues.
Olivier Beretta had taken over the driving duties before the halfway point of the
race, at 2:40 a.m. EST. During his stints, he suffered a little damage after contact
with another car but it was nothing major and he continued through his stint. Toni
Vilander was up next and full course cautions continued. Vilander gave way to Giancarlo
Fischella, who also suffered  a hit and subsequent damage to the rear diffuser.

After two visits to the garage to repair and with safety in mind first, the team
 opted to remove the diffuser all together and be down on speed for the brace balance.
David Rigon returned to the cockpit ten laps down after the diagnosis and subsequent
repairs were made by the talented Risi Competizione crew.

"One of our competitors came into Giancarlo and the diffuser got hit in such a way
that it buckled it and it started destroying itself. We had to come in and fix it
because we didn't want to have a catastrophic failure. There was other damage done
when Beretta was in the car, so there's been quite a bit of contact and the car 
has got some damage. The biggest thing is we decided it was a safety issue. We really
needed to have a good look at it, regardless of how many laps it cost us, to make
sure it wasn't a safety issue. We also didn't want to have a situation where the
 part we removed actually fell off on the banking or a high-speed area. It would
 then be such a balance shift, it would snap the car into the wall. That was our
 thought process and why we erred on the side of caution. We knew we couldn't win
by just fixing it and going out to race it and trying to get our laps back, so safety
was the priority. We decided to pit and look at it and put another diffuser on it.
We lost so many support brackets that it ended up grinding itself down as well. 
We didn't have another diffuser because we're very short on spare parts. We decided
to remove the diffuser and added some wing for the loss of the diffuser and just
 get back out and run the car. We're quite down on straight speed because we had
 to add wing to compensate for what the diffuser was giving us, but the car seems
safe and the lap times are okay. We're actually competitive as far as placing. If
somebody else drops out, great for us. With seven hours left, it's still a long 
race for us."
